Slice & Dice
Ever since WYSIWYG web design programs became popular everyone and their dog thinks they can sell their services as web designers. During my time in various web design communities I have seen literally hundreds of "What do you think of my site" posts where the site is so badly made it makes me cringe.
Graphic Designers playing with web design are the worst culprits of bad web design for the simple fact they have the talent to make a website look really nice, but don't have the technical know how to build it properly, resulting in a website which in more cases than not;We have graphic designers who are great at just that, graphic design, we also have web designers, programmers, and advertisers and without all of them injecting there skills into a website, there is always going to be something missing.
- takes an age to load
- isn't accessible to people with disabilities
- doesn't load on any other browser but internet explorer
- requires the end user to fiddle with their monitor settings to be able to read it
- isn't clear about how it should be navigated
- is resolution specific.
A graphic designer building a website is similar to a decorator building a house, at the end of the day if you want a house building you hire specialists in house construction, architects, brick layers, roofers, glaziers, etc.
